Jendi Pangabean



            Jendi Pangabean Akmal is a 32 year old swimmer who was born on June 10th 1991 in Muara Enim, Sumatera Selatan, Indonesia, which makes him Indonesian. He is called 'the eel' for his fast and agile swim. 

            Returning a few years earlier when he was 12, he lost his leg due to a motorcycle accident. He lost a lot of blood so the doctors decided to amputate him. Regardless, that never held him back. He did not sink under the circumstances. He was able to build confidence when he learned about para swimming. Swimming had been a passion of him since childhood. He also used to swim in the rivers back home. In 2008, he began engaging in para swimming when he moved to Palembang by joining Lumban Tirta Club. 

Jendi Pangabean's Achievements:

Won the men's 59 100m backstroke. 2018 Asian Para Games

2 golds, I silvers, and bronze, XIV Riau National Paralympic Week (Peparnas) 2012

3 golds 2 silvers, and I bronze, 2015 ASEAN Para Games Singapore

5 gold medals at once on 2017 ASEAN on Para Games, KL Malaysia

4 medals on Asian Para Games.
